I'm Afraid to Have an Orgasm
Hi Dr. Betty!
I'm a 22 year old girl virgin and I have been reading your blog for quite a while. I didn't start masturbating till I was 17. At first I tried with a vibrator but it hurts so I am now sticking to my hands. I have a seizure disorder and I am on medication for that, but I am afraid about having an orgasm because I was told that there is a possibility that I might have a seizure while having one!
I did some research and I couldn't find any concrete answer to this, but I am so paranoid that when I masturbate and it starts to feel better, I stop because it also feels like I am about to have a seizure too. I black out after I have a seizure and I have a roommate, so it would be really embarrassed to have our bedroom door locked while I'm unconscious.
Thanks very much for all your help! You're the best
Dear L,
One way to find out would be to go ahead and masturbate all the way to orgasm. Otherwise you will always be wondering. Why can't you experiment with your roommate present? I'd discuss this with her and see how she feels about it. Or don't lock the door. Or make sure she has her own key to the room. I believe you must figure out some way to follow through and find out. Orgasms are very healing for the most part.
I also don't know what kind of medication you are taking which might contribute to inhibiting your orgasm. Since you've been on the website, I hope you are using some kind of organic oil so you can always begin by giving yourself a vulva massage while having some hot sexual thoughts in mind. That alone would be very beneficial with or without an orgasm. Just getting pleasant sensations in your sex organ. Let me know how you solve this problem.
