Can Masturbation Make Me Infertile?
Dear Dr Betty,
I have a question about masturbation and wish to get your expert answer. I am a female who have masturbation for a couple of year, sometimes I even masturbate few times a day? Is it over masturbation? Over masturbation will affect my reproductive system and cause infertility in future? Besides, I remember when I am still a young girl who is so childish; I use some sharp objects to masturbate before. However, after masturbation, I don't have pain, bleeding and vaginal infection in that moment, even till now. Is it means my reproductive system still function and not being infected? I am very worry; will this bring any infection or cause infertility in future? Will my reproductive system get harm without any sign and symptoms?
This make me feel very guilty every times after masturbate. Meanwhile, recently, my vaginal and vulva parts feel itchy and have some yellowish vaginal discharge, especially few weeks before my menstrual period. I had already visited a doctor, she said it is just some vaginal infection. However, I seem didn't recover after taking the medicine and applying the cream. I am worry this infection is it related to my previous way of manstrubation or it is just vaginal yeast infection? Hope to get your expert knowledge and advice.
Dear S,
Masturbating every day will cause no harm but using a sharp object is never a good idea. However, that was a long time ago and I doubt that incident would have caused you to be infertile. So stop worrying and feeling guilty. Your vaginal discharge/infection is not the result of you current or past masturbation. Check in again with your doctor and tell her the treatment didn't work.
Dr. Betty
The following information might help:
The cottage cheese-like discharge is not an "infection." Yeast is a fungus that's normally present in the vagina that can overgrow causing itching and discomfort. Before using an OTC med try inserting an acidophiles cap purchased from the health food store inside your vagina to balance the flora and fauna. Lay off sugars, refined carbs and alcohol. The names associated with this are Vaginal Itching, Yeast Infections and Candida Albicans. A yellowish discharge might be trichamonis which must be treated in order for it to go away. So Google away and learn about these common problem.
