What is "Sex Flush"?

Dear Betty,
I struggle to fully understand the mechanisms of the sex flush, I mean I understand what’s saying here, but I have a sexual experience fresh in mind; this man who made me blush, and blush… and the sex, the chemistry and the orgasms were also the most intense of my life so far ;)
So I can’t help but wondering: Was my blushing a physical sign (kind of) of how intense these sexual experiences were (if that’s so, sexflush is without any doubt the sexiest word of the week :D and will have to officially call him Mr. flush).
"Commonly referred to as the sex flush, vasocongestion (increased blood flow) of the skin can occur during all four phases of the human sexual response cycle. Studies show that the sex flush occurs in approximately 50-75% of females and 25% of males, yet not consistently. The sex flush tends to occur more often under warmer conditions and may not appear at all under cooler temperatures. It has also been commonly observed that the marked degree of the sex flush can predict the intensity of orgasm to follow."
Danish Katrine Berling, who calls herself an orgasmexpert, tells me that this also has to do with histamine and if you have enough of it, you will blush – like the blushing-thing is a sign of good sexual… hm, something… I will look more into this tomorrow.
I would appreciate any kind of answer. No one seems to really know what to answer me on this, but it’s so interesting! I will off course quote you and link to your website if you have any information about this.
Best regards,
The little curious Norwegian sexwriter

Dear M,
You tell me. I seldom had a "sex flush" which I understood as happening during sex. But when I did experience it, a red rash-like area appeared on my upper chest. It felt warm to the touch. As for blushing with our faces turning red, it's been ages since I've had that one but it's all too familiar.

Dear Dr. Betty,
I am writing about the wand, the massager with the big head ;)
I was talking to a couple of sexologists recently and I mentioned that the wand is also “a squirt machine”. They protested heavily, saying that all women need to use a dildo inside as well to be able to squirt. I know from own experience this is not true, I only use the wand, massaging all vulva, and it makes me squirt.
I have a feeling you can confirm that this is possible and why that is?

Dear M,
Although I have never had the experience personally, several of my friends have. Also one of my clients squirted while using the Magic Wand. The head on this vibrator is large with very strong vibrations. I recommend only using it on low and softening the vibes by putting a sock on it. Many women hold the vibe above or to one side but rarely directly on the clitoris
Stimulating the clitoral glans also affects the internal clitoris of the urethral sponge that is erectile tissue. The expelled liquid has a small amount of female prostate fluid that is no more than a teaspoon. The rest is dilute urine from the bladder. Women who squirt say it's a pleasant feeling but not the same as having an orgasm. I suspect "squirters" are bearing down with their PC muscle while I teach women to lift up to heighten their orgasms. Many men are so impressed by this that some women want to learn how to do it. Other women ask how to stop squirting as it increases her laundry load.
We still have much to understand about female sexual anatomy and orgasms, but this information will continue to be slow to appear until we stop using the male model of sexual response for women. We are quite different from men and as the French say, "Viva la difference!"
