These Nine Women are Going to Change the World

This past weekend we had our first Bodysex certification workshop. Nine women will hold their own bodysex workshops using the "Betty Dodson method" to help women overcome negative body image and pleasure anxiety. They hail from Israel, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Canada, San Francisco, Colorado, and Texas. Two women are in their 20's, two are in their 30's, three are in their 40's, one is in her 50's, and one is in her 60's. And the majority of the women are mothers (and me as a mom-to-be).

Usually, after a workshop, I write up the weekend in a snap and bask in the "bodysex effect" energy. This workshop was different. It was so powerful...so intense...almost overwhelming that it took me two days to process everything that happened. The magnitude of what we'd accomplished weighs on my heart in the most beautiful way. It's like there was a shift and now it's begun to ripple out around me and I don't fully understand what we've set in motion.

The word I keep coming back to is "power". Power just emanated from these women as we sat in the circle. Betty always struggles to hear the women do their group share - not this time. The women all spoke loud and clear from their gut. We sat up straight - tits out - and described why we want to do Bodysex, what it means to us. I love the idea of each woman making Bodysex her own, adding her perspective to Betty's work. It's always been Betty's dream that Bodysex would go global and now it's a reality.

I took notes during the group share because there were some profound moments. Here are my favorite quotes:

*sigh* That's exactly how I feel about Bodysex. It's so healing and transformative that I want to spend the rest of my life holding workshops. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have done 40 years of workshops like Betty. Sisterhood is addictive.

We had the women pair off into groups of two and do mock genital show & tell sessions as Betty listened and offered critique. They were all fabulous and we have some stars in the group. Even though the women had gone through the process in a regular workshop it was still profound. It's like bearing your soul and connecting with everyone in the room simultaneously. It was beautiful to watch these women bond so intimately as they forged their way together. Sisterhood.

Betty was exhausted at the end of Day 2 but the women were intent on erotic recess. There was no way we weren't going to share orgasms. Sometimes during erotic recess Betty will pull along side a woman who's having difficulty achieving orgasm. Not this time. The sexual power in the room was palpable.
