This past weekend's workshop was special. I started to feel it as I prepared the room Friday night. We had three women seeking certification taking their first workshop, beginning the process to run their own groups. Knowing that Betty's work will be continued and built upon all over the world is, well, just thrilling.

Although there are times when I question whether our belief that body acceptance and independent orgasms for women can change the world is too simplistic or ego-based. But once we sit in the circle at the end of Day 2 it all washes over me - life is that simple, people are that simple. When we connect to our bodies through pleasure, we create a sense of self - a sense of purpose that transcends the material. Self-knowledge liberates the mind, body and soul.

We had each woman seeking certification submit their sex essay and come in early so we could sit down and interview them. Their stories reflected the typical female experience of sexual repression, dominance, and lack of sex education but each found a path to heal themselves. That's what we're looking for - women who are healers who've taken their knocks and stood back up. Betty always says that we teach what we need to learn.

Genital show & tell is always amazing. Betty is at her best as she describes our vulva style and we share our greatest intimacy. You can have sex with someone and never come close to this sort of vulnerability or connection. It is the essence of sisterhood and in this moment we're bonded forever. The next day when everyone starts to arrive you can feel the shift in energy. There is no judgment. We are all equals.

Day 2 we went around the circle and the women shared that they'd all gone out to dinner together.  Basically, they took over a local hotel restaurant and patio. They were so raucous that their waiter asked what they were celebrating. One of the women said, "we're celebrating our cunts". They felt so connected and so powerful, their energy was like a beacon. These women captivated the room...together as sisters.

Erotic recess was different this time. Usually, the women stimulate themselves and the orgasms go round the circle. Betty will pull up along side a woman and guide her to orgasm (usually that means handing her the hitachi) but this time it was like Betty was doing mini-private sessions. Maybe it was because Betty had a nice big orgasm at the start of erotic recess or because we had three women seeking certification - I don't know - but it was fantastic.

As one women started to arch her back during orgasm, Betty announced, "this is a perfect example of the hysterical arch that will block your orgasm. You want to roll your pelvis forward and meet the pleasure. Arching cuts off the blood and is a means of resisting orgasm". She rolled her pelvis forward as Betty took her hand, made a fist, and pressed it against the area between her vaginal opening and her anus as she placed her other hand on her chest as reassurance. She had the most unbelievable orgasm with her eyes open. We all watched as she ascended higher and higher until her whole body was shaking with pleasure.

Then Betty moved on to another woman and guided her to another intense orgasm. I noticed that she would place her hands on the woman's chest and forehead and press down - she would give her legs and bottom a firm pat to ground her in her body. What struck me was how different it was to watch Betty interact with the women. It was non-sexual touch. She was guiding them to orgasm, supporting them as they pushed their bodies to new heights of pleasure. She wasn't stimulating them directly or taking their energy in any way. She was their coach. It was powerful.

We ended erotic recess by eating strawberries and chocolate chip cookies giggling, chatting and watching women orgasm. Then one of the women accidentally sprayed breast milk on Betty's back. Betty asked her to do it again and we all broke out laughing. We had so many wonderful motherhood moments. It was beautiful to witness women share their experiences and their orgasms. Our bodies are so strong.

It was an unforgettable weekend and we're looking forward to our first advanced workshop for women seeking certification in October.
