Dear Dr. Betty,

Sometimes after my boyfriend fingers me....hard and fast, of course, I bleed a bit...it doesn't gush out! But it's not just a little amount, either. Also, it's at random times (not always before or after my cycle). This doesn't happen every time, though (mind that sometimes it doesn't happen even if we are being rough). Also, I have abdominal pains; some occur before and some occur after intercourse.

My gynecologist said it's normal from everything contracting inside me. Also, I haven't been tested for STDs for the past 3-4 years and I have had multiple partners between that time...MAINLY with a condom, but like three people without... I know even though I am not having symptoms it is the smart thing to get tested. What do you think....on all three of those things?

Why "hard and fast, of course?" Are you a practicing masochist? If so, then the blood and pain are desired as part of your sex life.

I'm sorry but having abdominal pains before or after intercourse is NOT normal "because everything is contracting inside you." So I disagree with your gynecologist. Unless like I said before: you are a conscious masochist. Partner sex in my understanding is about pleasure and mutual orgasms, so yes, get tested and have the bleeding looked at if it persists.
