Controversial orgasms?

Though I don't grant the premise of them being controversial, I think it's ironic that the controversy probably comes from men who don't generally give women orgasms anyway. Watching "American Dad" a line was like, "...the myth of the female orgasm." said among men who then all laughed. Though it was satirical, it shows how some segments of men have been udner the assumption for however long that women don't enjoy sex like we do. And until recently (historically speaking) men were responsible for everything women had. Since women couldn't own land, or inherit anything the only way they gained any status in society was through marriage. That paradigm has changed but only just, and many of the male-sentiments persist to this day. That a woman might be able to satisfy herself sexually absent a man's assistance threatens the patriarchy in a time when it's power is all but gone.

'Women's' independent orgasms saving the world

When I heard Nicole Daedone's video TED talk and her style of creating female orgasms I cringed. I believe she's a great promoter with inaccurate information, doing much disservice to women. She mentions saving the world (or something to that effect) in her TED talk, but it didn't fit until I heard your message. 'Independent' orgasms are the answer, no matter what spot is stimulated. Betty we need your TED talk.
I gave a 'talkback' a few years ago for the production of the play "Hysteria - In the Back Room."  Wish I had had enough time to have delved deeper into the question of masturbation as you have. I scratched the surface, but what I found was most enlightening. I suspect you probably know most of this information, but if you are interested in reading about the treatment of women's masturbation during the victorian era you might want to read. http://theeroticsalon.com/?s=hysteria
I shall definitely speak to your words regarding masturbation at the Talk Q&A of my Salon. It will certainly be enriched after taking your BodySex workshop in a few weeks. So very much look forward to this gathering of women with the true guru and 'Mother of Masturbation.'
Thanks to both of you women for keeping the topic of female masturbation in the forefront.

Hallelujah for female masturbation

Masturbation should not be the prerogative of men, keep up the good work Betty and Calin, and maybe the world will eventually be a better place when all women take up the cudgels and masturbate with aplomb.
