Todd Akin's infamous we-dont-need-abortion-because-legitemate-rape-victims-can-shut-down-pregnancy gaffe got me thinking about the prevalence of rape and the science of conception.
The GOP wants to outlaw abortion even in cases of rape and incest (sorry but if men got pregnant they'd bundle the morning after pill with six packs).
Kate Clancy sets the record straight: we are living in a rape culture and pregnancy from rape occurs as frequently as pregnancy from consensual sex.
On the prevalance of rape:
How many times do women actually get pregnant when they get legitimately raped? Not many, according to “doctors” so clearly it’s worth protecting the life of an unborn child - even if that child is born from rape.
Such is the reasoning of yet another male politician with no upper lip, Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), as he spoke during a TV interview Sunday. He was justifying his radical opposition to abortion. “If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” he said on The Jaco Report.
