Better Orgasms. Better World.
Hi Dr. Betty,
I read your website everyday! Thank you for providing such an inspirational and informational place.
My inner labia extend well past my labia majora. I am an avid runner. My problem is that I experience painful chafing on my inner labia, to the point where I bleed. It is very painful. I've tried tight underwear, loose underwear, tight shorts, loose shorts, and all other options.
Is this a common problem for women? And do you know of any possible solutions? Thank you so much for your time.
Dear S,
I love it that you visit us everyday. I wonder how many of our readers do this? It's the first thing I do every morning.
Hi, Dr. Betty, it's me, M.
I noticed you posted my question on your site, and honestly, I'd asked the question so long ago I'd completely forgotten about it! Since July, I've done a lot of *ahem* self exploration, and my vulvular (is that even a word?) situation has improved. When I first asked that question I was scared to death of masturbation, mainly because of much disputed flaps and because I was so tight. In the past couple of months or so I've learned a lot about myself sexually and I finally figured, "Screw it, I'm horny and I want to masturbate, and being afraid of my vagina is not going to get me anywhere."
I know all women's vaginas are "normal" no matter what size, shape, etc. their inner lips are, but I am still uncomfortable. When I was very young (perhaps 5-7 years old) I guess I was just curious about how I was growing down there, and I would pull on one of my inner labia. I did this for a while. Eventually, I noticed it was stretched; I've had asymmetrical labia ever since - one side is long, thick and dark while the other stays within the outer labia, is thin, smooth and light-colored.
I have dark spots or patches on my inner labia. The are not raised and don't cause any irritation. Is this normal, could this be cancer?
My husband just accused me of being unfaithful. He said that 2 weeks ago the day after my period he felt me and my Labia were loose and fluttery like i had just finished sex. We have been married 19 years, i have never cheated but i cannot convince him of this. What changes do labia go through on a monthly cycle.
Dear Betty and Carlin,
I have been a fan of your site for about 10 years, ever since I discovered you in an article in Glamour magazine. I tried the fantasy phone sex you recommended, and it opened up a whole new world for me in my forties. I am hornier than I have ever been, and fantasize constantly about group sex, a lesbian experience, getting my pussy lips pierced and more.
When I was growing up my mother taught me to refer to my vagina as my "cookie." As in, "make sure to wipe both your cookie and your tushie after going to the bathroom." I started sex play with my friends at 6 and had my first orgasm at 12 from masturbating, and then at 16 came for the first time with another person when my friend Paul went down on me for the first time...but all that time I could never find a word I liked for what I had down there.
I just love when my muff is coiffed perfectly.
Displaying my labia has turned out to be rather fun. Last night as a result of my husband's and my mutual arousal, he sucked on my pussy lips and clit for more than half an hour. I covered his face with my come, and my clit was so sensitive we could hardly fuck--but we did!
Sharing my pussy is quite exhilerating.
It's the New Year. Time to hit all your vulva questions:
