I just had an incident with my brand new razor. I was shaving, and I have hair just inside of my vaginal lips, so I tried to shave them... And felt a slight sting during. I thought nothing of it until I got out of the shower.
I have a cut from the clit connection to the labia minora (or looking up a detailed photo of a vagina, it's basically right on the Glands of the clitoris, but not actually on my clit and my clit appears to be unscathed). It's about half a centimeter or so I think, and it doesn't hurt right now, but I'm a little nervous and would like to know how long generally it will take to heal.
I won't be masturbating or having sex until it's healed because it looks terrifying.
Hi Dr. Betty,
I'm only in my thirties and yet my pussy hair is going gray...like a lot! We all know that the hair on our heads goes gray with age but I guess I've never really thought about pussy hair turning gray too. I'm too young for a gray pussy!! Do all women go gray down there?
I think I'm going to shave my pussy bald. Don't want to see all that gray hair. Makes me feel old.
According to my workshops and private sessions, women are letting their pubes grow out. I honestly prefer pubic hair to a bald pussy. My bush is now an assortment of thinning brown, gray and white hair. It's such a pleasure not to shave or wax. Just a few unruly hairs get trimmed with scissors around my clitoris and vaginal opening.
To each her own.
I'm a 17 year old, straight female.
I've been sexually active ever since the age of 13, of course, how can one blame me when the exposure came onto me early with media and whatnot. But what really bothered me is the subject of pubic hair.
I was in the 00's style but went back to something between the 60's and 80's: more of a tight triangle. I find myself playing with my pussy hair and I think that's a good thing.
Merry sent me the link to Disappearance - an article about the disappearance of pubic hair in the culture.
It got me to thinking about how my own pubic hair has been ever changing and fun! I know we don't often think of our public styles as fun, but I believe that's a healthy way for women to view this. Not the current conformist attitude by so many young women determined to imitate a porn image of having a naked vulva just to please a boyfriend.
To the woman who wrote in to Betty about what kind of pubic hairstyle pleases most men: I’m fairly certain that the answer to that is bare, as that’s the current trend in porn. I keep myself the way *I* think is most attractive (and most comfortable) – shaved lips and keeping it trimmed on the top. But, it’s up to you to decide what you find the most attractive and comfortable. Just remember that having a full bush doesn’t make you a “real” woman and that going bare doesn’t make you an insecure little gi
I was curious, do you think that men like it shaved? My boyfriend just likes me to please him in whatever way and the previous relationships I have had all told me that they like my pussy clean and shaven. Why is it that they like it shaved and should I do the same for my current boyfriend? It's a little embarrassing to let him see me with hair.
I think as women we have to ask why we knock ourselves out to please men? What do you want, shaved or trimmed or a full bush? After all it's you sex organ not his! He's lucky to get to play with it when you're in the mood.
I don't feel any desire or need to shave/wax/etc my pubic hair and I don't always shave my legs either. A lot of men and women seem to think this is normal and a must. What are your opinions? Why do people hate hair?
I don't think people hate hair but we do go through phases of hair fashion that you can't count on changing. Remember our beloved hippies in the sixties and early seventies? We were all hair back then and women did not shave their legs or arm pits, me included. It's good to remember that fashion is very fickle and what's hot today will be gone tomorrow.
I am not very hairy but would like to have all my body hair from the armpits down permanently removed by laser followed up by electrolysis as waxing and epilating is to temporary. I want it for sexual reasons and love the look and feel. The problem is apart from the expense is that my family are to close and would want to know what I am getting up to.
It is hardly a subject you can talk to your parents about. On the hairtell website they advise me that true laser is better than intense pulsed light which is inconvenient because there are a few places not to far away doing IPL affordably but not doing true laser. To get true laser affordably I would have to travel to London over 100miles away. I have never had a girlfriend and have aspergers sydrome.
I would like to know if shaving my balls and shaft are ok to do with no medical issues? I would love to shave my balls and shaft to experiment with how it feels. From looking at porn it looks a though a lot of woman and men alike are shaving thier genitals. Is this a trend or do they do it because it feels good?
It was the summer after fifth grade and I was living in Florida. My parents were going to the beach by themselves so I was allowed to invite a friend over to swim and hang out. I called my friend Kelly who had a very strict single mother. She said she would ask and call me back. I was immediately convinced she wasn't coming over. As I was looking through my friends' numbers for potential guests, the phone rang. Kelly had successfully convinced her mom to bring her over to spend the night!
I waited 30 minutes for her to get there - already in my bathing suit.
So, I mentioned in an earlier entry that I'm letting all of my pubic hair grow in after years of being completely bare. I think I've reached my growth "plateau", because I haven't noticed my hair getting any longer or more copious.
The hair on my head is really coarse/thick, so I expected my pubic hair to be the same. I actually wanted to achieve the full "afro", so I could trim and "landscape" from there. But, fuck... My hair is incredibly ugly. My mound just refuses to grow a "normal" amount of hair. One spot has a group of thick hair, and another spot is almost completely bald.
Thanks, Robin, for the link:
This is kind of odd to me. So we won't teach our children anything about sex - abstinence only - but then we bring them in a the ripe old age of 8 to get bikini waxes. I don't get it. What sort of genital hair do you have at 8?
Philadelphia aesthetician Melanie Engle, whose specialty is eyebrow shaping, is no stranger to odd requests. But nothing prepared her for being asked by one client to book a bikini wax appointment for her 8-year-old daughter.
“The first thing I had to do was try and stay calm, and not yell ‘What are you thinking?’ ” said Engle. “This wasn’t about the girl developing hair early — it was the mother’s obsession with wanting her daughter to be a supermodel.”
