When I was pregnant, I developed a growth of skin on one side of my clitoral hood.
My OBGYN said she would remove it while I was delivering but for some reason or another it didn't happen. 10 years later, it's getting in my way when I'm trying to masterbate and I feel like it is taking a hit on my self esteem because I think I caused it by the skin to skin friction while masturbating. I've never seen anything like it in your pictures, and I'm shy to see a gynecologist about it now.
I was curious if you've ever seen something like that before, or if it's normal to develop extra skin from masturbating.
I have a question about my clitoral hood. Between my clitoral hood and clitoris there's what looks like another fold of skin. I have looked it up online and don't seem to find anything about it. It's almost like the clitoral hood is creased. I have had my labia reduced before because they were so long but they are still pretty long.
Could that have something to do with it?
The fact that you've had labiaplasty indicates you are obsessively concerned about the appearance of your vulva. Yes, "Between my clitoral hood and clitoris there's what looks like another fold of skin" That's most likely what it is. So get over yourself and stop obsessing about how your poor pussy looks.
Dearest Betty and Carlin, get a drink, this is a long one.
I am a 63yr old lesbian and I have finally started my journey toward sexual healing and liberation. I discovered your wonderful web site while searching for information on hooded clits. Google had listed it’s best results, when I accidentally dropped my mouse on the keyboard, and up popped your clitoral hood chart page. If that’s not the Goddess sending me to you, I don’t know what is.
I started reading. I read for hours. I cried out of pain, I cried out of joy, I cried out of anger, finally I cried out of sadness that it has taken me 63 years to start this healing.
Hi Dr. Betty,
I am in love with your videos. I deeply respect both you and Carlin's opinions and I thank you for opening my eyes removing shame around masturbation.
Happy to know you enjoy our videos. However, you would benefit more from reading the information inside the website.
I am 17 years old, and I've been masturbating for as long as I can remember. In 3rd grade, I would climb up and hang on the fireman's pole, and rope in gym-class for hours, just clenching and unclenching my PC muscles (I think that's what they're called). I would hang on the corner of our kitchen island, and off of door knobs.
The PC muscle is very important for enhancing your orgasms. Use it at the same time you stimulate your clitoris using coconut oil to enhance the sensation.
I've pulled this post to the front page because it's one of our all time top content here on D&R. It was originally published last September. Women's vulvas are so unique and each more beautiful than the next.
I'm 38 years old and I have noticed in the last few years that intercourse has become less stimulating and it is more difficult for me to orgasm when it never was before. I have read your site and I was happy to discover that I learned the rock and roll method to orgasm all on my own and it worked like a charm until about 3 years ago, when I began to need direct stimulation to my clit to get me off.
Dear Dr. Betty,
I am twenty seven years old, and I experienced my first orgasm this past year towards the end of my second pregnancy. My body was getting ready for labor, and I was having mild contractions for the last month. I wonder now if that contributed to my situation. What I did was I placed a vibrator on the edge of a chair, and sat down. I tilted my pelvis forward, and rested my clitoral area on the vibrator. I was fully clothed at the time. I really enjoyed that the inseam of my jeans vibrated along with the vibrator against all of my fun areas. :) (I had never experimented with my clitoris before, as I found it to be too much.)
Dear Dr. Betty,
I hope you can help me. :(
I've had clitoral pain/hypersensitivity while masturbating for two years and finally worked up the courage to mention it to my gynae—stupid, I know, not to tell them sooner, but I was embarrassed—she looked me over and promptly announced that my clitoris was "overlarge" and had slipped its protective hood. She then sternly admonished me not to go rubbing it! As the clitoris is my only source of pleasure, I find this an unsatisfactory answer. I don't know what to do. I haven't been "rough" with myself as she suggested, but I sometimes get painful throbs out of nowhere.
I have recently bought your book, Sex for One, and I'm really glad to have read it. In the book, you described a woman who was convinced that she didn't have a clitoris, but of course she did, and you called it an embedded clitoris. I have had the same problem as this woman, but have not been able to find any further information about the embedded clitoris. Would you be able to give me some more information about embedded clitorises, and any advice on what to do about this problem. I've been trying all the techniques in your book, but seeing as I don't appear to have a clitoris, I don't know how to go any further.
In the past three years, I have developed a very annoying problem that has greatly interferred with my sexual relationship with my boyfriend. When my clitoris is touched either orally, manually or with a vibrator, the clitoral hood becomes swollen and covers my clitoris to the point where I can't achieve orgasm. I need the direct contact and am no longer getting It. Would a female circumcision help? I think it would....but what is the cause of the swelling. I never had it before. I am 55 and have not had a period for 4 years.
