Dear Betty:

I finished reading your book Sex for One: The Joy of Selfloving a couple of months ago and as per your request I'm writing about my experiences.

I'm 42 and started masturbating at age 12. I discovered this by mistake one day when I finished peeing and wondered what would happen if I rubbed my penis. The actual "technique" I used is what is known in Tantra as the spiral. I also found out that my best friend at the time also was masturbating but he called it "making scum". I certainly didn't know it had a real name. It was then that I started buying Playboys to jerk off with. Now fast forward to age 14.

I would spend a lot of time at my aunt's house because my parents would take a lot of vacations and by this time I was an avid masturbator. Well about three quarters of the way through my ritual the door opened and she walked in. I said good morning nonchalantly and kept masturbating. And she stood and watched with fascination. My orgasm was much more intense than usual and when I came to a stop she just said breakfast will be ready when you are.

During breakfast she asked me if I jerked off a lot and I flat out told her. She said I looked like I really enjoyed it. My best technique is what I call fucking the couch because virtually that's what it is.
