If you are female State Representative in Michigan, you had better check your vagina at the door. This week, State Representative Lisa Brown was indefinitely banned from speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives because she used the word “vagina.” Her colleague was indefinitely banned too.

How is it possible that we live in a world where a woman can’t use the word vagina? I know I’m preaching to the choir on D&R, but how could anybody be offended by the word vagina?

The vagina is an integral part of the existence of all human life. In fact, this particular usage of the offending word was in conjunction with a debate on abortion. I mean, how can we discuss abortion without discussing the vagina directly or indirectly?

I wonder if this is an issue of denial. By calling to attention the obvious, it may make the debate a bit too real. Would he have been as offended with the use of the word “vajayjay”? As in, “Finally Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you are all so interested in my vajayjay, but no means no.”

I think Ms. Brown and her colleagues should mount a counter campaign against Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas. If they have to leave their vaginas at the door, he should have to leave his uptight asshole at the door too. Fair is fair.

The bottom line is this: we are heading in the wrong direction. Michigan is desperately trying to heavily control the vaginas of its female constituency - and now it’s controlling the mouths of its female State Representatives. There is something very wrong with this picture.
