Women ARE Visually Stimulated!

I know I'm citing an article about porn addiction (Betty hates when sex and addiction are linked) and Today's Christian Woman alleges that women watching porn leads to rape but I have my own personal agenda here.

Women are consuming porn just like men.  A 2006 survey showed that 17 percent of women said they struggled with pornography addiction and that one in three visitors to pornography sites were women. About 30 percent of Internet pornography consumers are women, according to the 2008 Internet Pornography Statistics.

Why is this so important? Because I'm sick and tired of being told that women aren't visually stimulated.  It's like we don't have eyes, dirty minds, and all consuming libidos - like we're dead from the waist down.

God damn it I think about sex every second of every day.  And, yes, I think about sex with good looking people.  When I pass someone of the subway that's attractive my mind goes right to some dirty public sex with me as the aggressor.  I'm not thinking about wedding rings or walks in the park.

Even Christians are admitting that women like to watch porn and, America, porn is here to stay.  It takes us all back to a time deeply embedded in our dna when we could see, smell, and hear each other fucking in the cave.  Watching other people have sex was a domino effect that got us in the mood.  Porn is the new cave.

Having sex in the same bed that you sleep in every night with the same partner is BORING.  Watching a little porn gets the juices flowing for men and women.  I think this is a healthy trend as long as you combine porn (entertainment) with education (dodsonandross.com).

There is science as well as surveys behind this...

I've been sick of hearing the same tired old crap about men being more visual too and then I found this awhile back... http://sexuality.about.com/b/2006/06/19/new-brain-research-challenges-th... ...and posted it on my blog here. http://liandradahl.blogspot.com/2010/06/women-like-to-look-as-much-as-ne...

Porn is the new cave....I like that :)

Yes, I agree 100% that many women can be just as turned on by visual porn.  Maybe it's even more useful for women as fore play, given that many of us need a longer buildup to be fully aroused. I would bet that lots of women enjoy erotic writing as well, increasing the overall percent of women who utilize some type of porn.

I also would bet that women are more likely to enjoy a wider variety of visual porn (e.g. women who enjoy watching men with men, or straight women who like to watch women together.)  Boy I sound like a sexist, claiming women generally have more complex tastes! Sorry.

Yes.  It's finally good to hear a woman say it.

What you are saying is

What you are saying is absolutely correct. All the latest research would support your claim.  However, and here's what I find so truly typically confusing female brain is: even when women are aroused that does not in any way predict that they will soon have, or want, to have sex. !!!! Men, on the other hand, DO want to. Measuring skin temperature, lubrication, blood pressure, changes in brain images, confirms that women's bodies are altered when looking at porn, Further is does not matter what gender, or what combination of genders are involved.  Even cute little monkeys created the same changes.  Men however, do not get aroused, according to the data, unless they are watching sex with those similar in orientation. !! Women are therefore seemingly more readily "aroused"  but not nearly so inclined. We can think about sex constantly as Carlin suggests she does, but for many of us, the actual behavior remains just a thought.

Yep.  I too am very visually stimulated.  I love looking at beautiful people pleasuring themselves and others.  I also like reading erotic stories and looking at erotic artwork.

I suppose it depends on the meaning of visual

I can't say for certain that women are less sexually stimulated by visual material. But, if they are, then that does automatically mean that women are never sexually stimulated . I know that I am a woman who is not visually stimulated, but I do have a high sex drive. It's just that sight alone isn't enough. You can show me a picture of a ripped naked man, and I'll probably lose interest after a second unless the picture makes me think. Why is he naked? What is he feeling? Who is he waiting for? I'm a straight female, but I can even enjoy a picture of a naked woman if there's a story in it. What I've heard from the few men I've talked to (granted, not a huge sample), is that having some kind of story does add an extra layer of interest, but there is a high level of arousal just from the shape of a nude body. For me, the eroticism is in the fantasy of the story being presented. Of course, I do get more turned on if the guy is hot. But emotions are a big deal to me also. An expression of arousal on a person's face can be pretty arousing, regardless of what the person looks like.

My wife enjoys porn. She is very high stimulated by porn and sometimes she has more complicated taste than me!

I too have a quite rampant mind

I don't care whether it's a woman, a man or anyone else, in porn (films, written, whatevers) or on the subway... If it's pleasing to the eye my mind surely jumps to sex.

The stereotype that women

The stereotype that women aren't visually stimulated has always annoyed me. Watching porn and looking at attractive men has always been a source of sexual excitement for me. I think this stereotype persists because of sterotypes about women being less sexually potent than men. That and the media has a very steretyped view of what types of men women find attractive. I have very specific taste in what I find physically attractive in a man and thats not what.

Women are not visually stimulated by naked male bodies

Carlin,

I think that you are missing the real meaning of the phrase "women are

not visually stimulated".

It means that naked male bodies do not turn on women in the way that naked

female bodies turn on straight men.

The phrase does not mean that women are not turned on by porn/watching

others have sex nor does it mean that women never want to have sex with

attractive men.

It is all to do with a woman's reaction to the naked male body therefore the

phrase still stands true.

Well, my reaction to a naked

Well, my reaction to a naked male body (and I'm female) is more often than not unambiguous lust. So, no, the phrase doesn't stand true.

Preponderance

Damn you sound like a modern day Louise Brooks especially you being in a position of preponderance as well as she way back when, Ms. Doll. Good looking women can get away with anything.  Then the beat goes on.
