Stop excluding women
While I can understand that this ad sends a more positive message than most of today's, to me it all says the same thing : "there is always something wrong with women's body types". This is just excluding another type of woman. Not all women are skinny naturally, and not all women are big naturally. I think that rather than focusing on either "real women have curves" or "everyone should be a 00" we have to start focusing on the one and only truth " real women are a variety". We come in all different shapes and sizes. i am happy to see that there is more body acceptance of larger sizes today, but I don't think it should come at the expense of others. And yes, I am a skinny woman- naturally. It has not been a piece of cake for me living in this society and being this size. One of the biggest misconceptions around is that people prefer women to be skinny. Well no actually what they mean is people want women to be skinny in some places and have curves in others. Most naturally thin, small women look like me I believe- with tiny breasts and little curves. That is not what the media or society in general wants us to look like. By being "skinny" they mean they want us to have DDs, a 24 inch waist, and a nice round ass. It is not easy being a skinny woman nowadays bc not only do we not live up to the "real women have curves" new ideal, but the majority of us don't even live up to that Barbie-doll stereotypical skinny woman ideal. Please everyone stop excluding other women's body types in order to accept another. We should be working towards acceptance of any and all types. No young girl should be made to feel bad bc she's a size 0 or a size 18 or anything inbetween and beyond. We are all beautiful in our own ways and my life and I'm sure other women's too would be better if people started accepting that.
