Demi Moore Brings Out the Cougar in All of Us

First it was Demi and Ashton and now Madonna is right behind her with Jesus (actually I think Betty played the cougar card with Eric before Demi and Madonna).  They've personally nabbed two of the hottest men in Hollywood who are 15-20 years their "junior" with 0 apologies.

According to a new study, these women have changed the way we all feel about dating younger men. Back in 2005, just 8 per cent of single women in their 40s and 50s said they would date a man five or more years their junior.  Today, more than a third said they would consider a younger man.  The survey of 4,500 singles by online dating service Parship found that 34 per cent of women in their 40s and 50s would consider dating a younger man.

In my 20s, I had friends who refused dates with men who were just 1-2 years younger than them.  If you were in high school, you wanted to date a guy in college.  if you were in college, you wanted to date a guy who just graduated.  Looking back, I think that we made those dating choices because we wanted a guy with a car or an apartment.  Now, we have the advent of the alpha girl who has her own car, apartment, career and she's realized that younger men have more stamina in bed, fewer bad habits, and are just shinier.  

The less pressure we feel to be eternally 22 years old the more ground we've gained towards true equality.  In a world where we still have child brides, dowries, and female genital mutiliation a study like this gives you a little glimmer of hope.
