Amanda Bacon: Motherhood Uncensored

I love this picture taken by Amanda Bacon post-birth of herself in a diaper.  Those diapers were the most annoying part of my recovery.  When you become a mom, you have to find your humor.

Here's the caption that went with her pic:

"I'm sharing this picture because it's real. This is motherhood; it's raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one. Having a baby is a beautiful experience, and the realities of postpartum life aren't spoken enough about. And definitely not photographed enough. Some people probably find this uncomfortable, but why? I seriously don't get it! It's probably because this part isn't talked about. We all should try and educate, empower and embrace every aspect of childbirth, including moments like this. And do it while having a sense of humor. Nothing says welcome to motherhood like an adorable squishy baby, and a giant mom diaper.

Edit: My husband didn't post this.  He doesn't even have Facebook.  I did."

Losing a baby

Mostly the world seems to feel entitled to actively discuss and prescribe any part of women's reproductive system, whether it's limiting access to birth control, to abortion, or constantly defining and redefining what a woman must do in order to be a good lover, good wife or other.

But no one ever talks about the babies that we lose.

There's an article in the newspaper today that includes a clip from a British MP Vicky Foxcroft who lost her baby after five days. It is almost unbearably moving.
