"They Called Me a Fencesitter"

I <3 Cate Blanchett for so many reasons.  Who else could get away with discussing her "many" relationships with women while promoting a Cinderella film?

She hates labels and described her frustration with being referred to as a "fencesitter" for not being gay or straight.  Maybe now we'll see Cate play a bisexual in an upcoming film...maybe some clever writer or director will create a role that delves into the bs of sexual labels.  Let's write a true love story that has nothing to do with gender or orientation.

Cate is perfect for that role.

Looks like you got your wish, Carlin...she is promoting her new film, "Carol" a role in which she plays a bisexual. Tried to post the link but the website thought it was spam.

Cate Blanchett and labels

Good for Ms. Blanchett. I think that a person like Blanchett makes some people intolerably anxious in both the straight and gay communities. Those people want the world and everything in it to be easily classifiable, no shades of grey allowed. Human beings are much more complex and fluid than that. Betty's idea that we're all just 'sexual' in varying ways is correct, but not easy for the average person to accept. As a woman, however, Blanchett faces relatively few negative consequences for her openness compared with what would happen to the careers of Brad Pitt or George Clooney if they admitted to numerous affairs with other men.

Carlin has an interesting idea about a love story that is just a love story, where gender and orientation are unimportant to the tale being told. I remember a 1970s film called 'Sunday Bloody Sunday'. One of the main characters was a bisexual man with two lovers, a man and a woman. He was equally devoted to both lovers, and couldn't understand why his dividing his affections like this was such a huge problem for other people.

However, the photo of her is very photoshopped and is showing not a 'real' woman.
