The Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality (IASHS) in San Francisco has announced that Jane Hamilton (aka Veronica Hart), Candida Royalle, and Veronica Vera will receive their honorary PhD from Dr. Ted McIlvenna. Gloria Leonard, who died in January, 2014 will receive her degree posthumously (Annie Sprinkle received her degree in 2002).

These were some of the first women to share their sexuality on film. Can you imagine how hard it was to live a normal life? Even today banks are cancelling adult stars bank accounts. When you get naked on camera, you cross a cultural divide. It takes courage and tremendous self esteem to remain true to one's self.

I'm thankful that their contribution to human sexuality is finally being honored.
