The Gender Flip & GQ Magazine

The Bondi Hipsters are my new favorite satirical comedy duo. Last week they released these photos of themselves, recreating the poses in Miranda Kerr's GQ magazine layout. They also reworked some of her quotes (you know the sexy, naughty ones they print in bold type over the photos) as captions for themselves.

The point was to show how ridiculous "sexy" is for women. In their own words:

"As you can see, the shoot comes across very differently. We think that this is a good case for the over-sexualization of the female body in the high fashion world. For some reason as soon as you put a man in there, and have a man talking about same-sex curiosity and masturbation it’s an entirely different thing that we aren’t used to seeing in the media."

We're so used to seeing women half-dressed, prone in seductive poses that it takes this sort of reality to slap us across the face and show us how ridiculous it is.

Brilliant.
