In 1950 (as Betty was heading to nyc to become an artist) a swedish photographer Christer Stromholm took his camera to Paris to document transexual women struggling to make a living in the red light district.

He waited until 1983 to publish Les Amies de Place Blanche which included the stories behind the photographs.

Stunning.

This is a world I couldn't have guessed at when I was younger. Carlin, you always find remarkable photographs and stories to share.
