I Knew There was a Reason I Loved Colin Powell

This week Colin Powell urged the House and the Senate to pass Sen. Jeanne Shaheen's (D-N.H.) amendment to extend the insurance coverage of abortion to military rape victims.

As it stands today, if you're serving your country and you get raped you have to pay your own abortion unless your life is in jeopardy. I'm not sure if you can use your military paycheck. Can you imagine sitting in a hospital bed after a violent rape and having to reach for your credit card to pay for an abortion?  Surreal.

I love Colin Powell's statement:

"Our servicewomen commit their lives to defending our freedoms. Congress should respect their service and sacrifice and provide them with the same level of health care coverage it provides civilians."

I had no idea he supported abortion rights. Very impressed.

our freedoms

No one is defending my "freedoms" by invading other countries. Colin Powell is just another war criminal who was a lousy father; see, e.g., his son's career record.

Supporting access to abortion by servicewomen is a good thing, but it doesn't turn a shit into a decent human being.
