I Feel Guilty After Watching Porn

Hello Betty!
I am fifteen years old and I am a huge fan of your videos. You are absolutely fabulous! I am going to get straight to the point though. I will occasionally watch porn and have been masturbating since I was young. I feel so guilty after watching and doing it. Is it normal for girls my age to watch porn? And what can I do to stop feeling so guilty? Thank you for all that you do!

Really E, beating up on yourself for watching porn will only make it more desirable. Guilt feelings are totally worthless. Feeling guilty about any sexual activity keeps us stuck in one place, we don't learn from it and it rarely leads to taking some kind of action toward change. We simply wallow in our guilt while feeling sorry for ourselves. It's my belief that sexual guilt is very much like a bad habit that we can break. Think of it as an addiction like smoking cigarettes. Every time the urge to light up (or to feel guilty) comes up, you say, "I no longer do guilt." We have more control over our feelings than we realize. It's mostly about making a commitment to change and once your mind is made up, you can do it.

Society makes you guilty

It is "society" that makes you guilty. Firstly, watching porn at your age is illegal, which is an instant guilt trip. Apparently photos and videos of people enjoying themselves is a bad thing. You can watch crime dramas, war films, and horror movies, which may be give you nightmares, but society says it's OK for your watch criminal behavior, atrocities and psychological imagery.
Of course we've spent nearly the last 2000 years making sure everyone feels guilty masturbating, and in fact nearly everything to do with nudity and sex, is apparently shameful. Personally I think it is a greater offense to make people feel guilty and shamed, but today you can bully people to such as extent that they commit suicide, and (here's the clever bit) blame the victim.
To my knowledge, I know of no-one who has been injured from regular masturbation, nor watching porn, but I know lots of people who are psychological effected by bullying from critics. I know who I think should feel guilty, and it's not you.

hi Betty, 
   I love your site.  I've been trying to explore my sexuality more and one of the ways I've been trying to do so is by watching porn.  I've been so far very disgruntled by the porn that is widely available.  Yes it does cause stimulation, but almost everything I've found in heterosexual porn has been derogatory to women and any thing they do is catered to please the man and it become an automatic turn off and I feel guilty for even starting to watch it in the first place.  Do you have suggestions on where I can find porn that is respectful and promote the empowerment of women?
