I knew Ellen Willis back in the day when we were feminists together. This trailer is for a book written by her daughter who went on a road trip across the country interviewing young women about their lives and what feminism means to them.  I look forward to reading Girl Drive:

1) Girldrive is a book, not a movie

2) Why on earth would you need to know about my sexual experiences? (or are you being sarcastic?)

3) Emma's suicide was tragic, but it really doesn't have much to do with the book. So why romanticize and emphasize it? Suicide should never be glorified, or read into as anything more than depression and mental illness.

Dear Nona,

I would like to apologize for the post on our website. What I intended to convey to Carlin my webmaster, was that you didn’t seem to ask any sex questions of these young women. Maybe you did. I wasn't asking about your personal sexlife. My intention was to post your trailer to support your work, not discredit you or your partner. However, I do believe once we bring up the issue of suicide, a bit of explanation would be desirable. Isn’t that a serious feminist issue, what drives a young woman to end her life after achieving what the two of you were able to accomplish? I think your road trip was very important, literally getting in touch with young women. We will promote your book when it’s available. Congratulations on a job well done.
